Once the summer hits, the streets tend to get hotter.
Oklahoma Sooners guard Isaiah Cousins was just chilling in New York with some friends, but ended up being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Cousins was hit by a stray bullet during a gang shooting.
Sooners head coach Lon Kruger says Cousins is going to be fine.
“I’ve spoken to Isaiah and he is doing well,” Kruger said in the statement. “It truly was a matter of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was simply talking to some friends when an outsider fired a shot. Everyone we’ve spoken to said they don’t believe anyone in his group was a target. The bullet struck him in the back of the shoulder and doctors are not planning surgery. He should be healed in a few weeks and begin summer activities with the rest of the team in June. We’re very thankful it wasn’t worse than it was.”
Cousins averaged 11 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game last season. He’ll be entering his junior campaign.
