Whoever is advising Rice is giving him horrible advice. His press conference was a sham and now his lawyer is saying things that even if true, isn’t going to help him at all.
Here is what attorney Michael Diamondstein said hypothetically happened before the Ray Rice uppercut.
“This is just a complete hypothetical,” Diamondstein told Matt Hammond of 97.3 The Fan in New Jersey. “Let’s assume for the sake of argument, rather than enter into the pretrial diversionary program that [Rice] entered into, we hypothetically move forward on the case. And hypothetically we litigate 100 motions and the video comes out and the video shows — hypothetically speaking now, hypothetically speaking — shows that Ray wasn’t the first person that hit and Ray was getting repeatedly hit but just Ray hit harder, fired one back and hit harder. Hypothetically speaking, and he gets found not guilty. Is that result somehow better? Is it better for the public? Is it better for the Ravens? Is it better for Ray? Is it better for Janay?”
You know he isn’t speaking in hypothetically and frankly this is something most people assumed. It had been reported that Rice’s wife hit or spit on him, before the uppercut.
Does that justifying knocking her out? That is something you have to decide for yourself. It is my opinion that in those type of situations it is best to just walk away and never lay your hands on a woman, unless your life is in danger. At this point trying to shift blame to his wife, isn’t going to help Rice’s reputation and he better hope that video never sees the light of day.
Because regardless of what she WAS doing, seeing a professional athlete knockout his wife wouldn’t go over well with anyone and that isn’t a hypothetical.
