Can’t say we didn’t see this coming.
You knew once the NBA talked about forcing Donald Sterling to sell the team over his skeletons that the 80-year-old would be more than happy to bring out some skeletons other NBA owners have in the closet.
In his lengthy response to the NBA (which you can read all of here if you really want to drive yourself insane), Sterling makes mention of Orlando Magic Owner Rich DeVos and comments he’s made on the gay community in the past.
Sterling wrote that DeVos “has made highly controversial comments against individuals with HIV/AIDS and generously supports anti-homosexual causes with impunity.”
Sterling noted that the league didn’t punish DeVos when DeVos made comments about gay marriage and AIDS in a 2009 interview with the Grand Rapids Press.
It’s no surprise that Sterling is trying to take everyone down with him before the league forces his sale of the Clippers. After trying to deflect the blame for his comments on Magic Johnson during his interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper didn’t work out, Sterling has moved on to his next target.
