With the 21st pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Oklahoma City Thunder select:
21. P.J. Hairston, Guard (Texas Legends – NBDL)
The Thunder are in desperate need of a lights-out shooter off the bench after failing miserably in acquiring one through the James Harden trade, and the troubled former North Carolina guard is just the guy they are looking for. Hairston is a legit two-guard who can be a big-time scorer in stretches, alleviating pressure on the OKC reserves when Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook rest.
With the 22nd pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select:
22. Cleanthony Early, Forward (Wichita State)
With physical big men Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol inside, Early is a great pick to insert at the three. The 6’8 former Shocker can stretch the floor with his outside shooting and help on the boards when Randolph or Gasol are resting on the bench. The worst-case scenario here is that Early can offer some bench scoring for the Grizz second unit.
With the 23rd pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz select:
23. K.J. Daniels, Forward (Clemson)
The Jazz have a roster loaded with young talent and a starting line-up basically set to be in place for the next decade. What the team is missing is a scoring punch off the bench. Insert Daniels, who can take defenders off the dribble and attack the rim. If the forward can work on his jumper, he will offer a great all-around offensive package for the Jazz.
With the 24th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets select:
24. Adreian Payne, Forward (Michigan St.)
This is a bit of a slide for the Spartan big man, but Payne is a good fit for the Hornets. Payne does a good job of stretching the floor and can offer solid rebounding for Charlotte off the bench. Giving Al Jefferson a legit back-up will only help to take pressure off of the All-Star big man.
With the 25th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets select:
25. Jordan Adams, Guard (UCLA)
While Adams isn’t the most popular of the available former Bruins, his outside shooting would be a perfect for the Rockets off of the bench. With James Harden stretching the floor with the starters, Adams shot allows the Rockets to not alter their gameplan too much when handing the keys over to the second unit. The guard will allow things to open up for Jeremy Lin and the Rockets second unit.
