Colleges Selling Generic Fball Jerseys In Fear of Future Lawsuits

Texas A&M No.12 Jersey

Several colleges have decided to sell generic team jerseys instead of football jerseys with star players’ numbers because of fear of future lawsuits.

According to ESPN, the three schools are Texas A&M, Arizona and Northwestern.

For this upcoming season, A&M will be selling a jersey with No. 12 on it, as in the “12th Man,” Northwestern will limit jersey sales to No. 51, which was used by current head coach Pat Fitzgerald during his playing career, and Arizona will only offer No. 14 for the 2014 season.

“We’ve been thinking about doing this for a while,” said Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne, who wouldn’t elaborate any further.
