Argentina’s Mascherano Tore Anus During World Cup Semis

Mascherano

Ouch.

During yesterday’s scoreless semi-final between Argentina and the Netherlands, Argentine Javier Mascherano had a pretty rough day. After apparently suffering a concussion early in the match and being allowed to continue, the South American suffered another painful injury.

Cringe-worthy. Mascherano’s injury came on a play that saw him dive in front of a potentially game-winning goal from Arjen Robben of the Dutch side, helping secure a scoreless tie in a match ultimately won by Argentina in penalty kicks. So Mascherano’s injury could be seen as having a direct effect on his sides win.

Yahoo! Sports was able to translate a bit of an interview with Mascherano and, well yikes.

“I tore the anus…. I don’t want to sound crude… Robben gave me an opportunity when he took a touch; he lost an second and I won. What I did anyone could have done. To be in the final you need a bit of luck.”

Calling a torn anus luck? Don’t say soccer players aren’t committed.
