When Tony Dungy stated that he would have never drafted Michael Sam because of his sexual orientation and it might cause distraction on the field, he recieved quiet a backlash. Dungy stated that its because of “distractions” that would halter his decision on allowing the first openly gay NFL player to play for him and while others felt he was wrong, Sam has no hard feelings towards the coach and says that everyone is allowed to have their own opinion.
And Sam couldnt have gave a better response. He could have came off rude or even lashed out but instead took the high road. Sam is starting off right in the NFL, people don’t really care what Sam does off the field as long as when the Rams uniform is on, he gives 100%.
