Retired New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs knows that football is probably behind him. But he’s only 32 so there’s a lot of time left for him to fill. So, what better way for a highly-tuned, athletic, young man to fill his 30s than a career in action movies?
According to a report published by TMZ, Jacobs is doing just that. He’s just shot his first movie, and of course it’s action themed.
The project is called “The Grievance Group” — in which Jacobs plays the leader of a militant army trying to protect his community. He’s pretty bad ass … he yells at a bunch of people, fights a guy in army fatigues and (pretends) to fire a heavy duty machine gun. We spoke with the film’s directer Rob Hawk who tells us they started shooting the flick about 7 months ago in New Jersey — and he’s almost finished with production. Hawk says the movie will open in 20 theaters on the East Coast in September and hopes it expands from there.
The report also mentions that Jacobs is serious about his acting career and hopes to use this first movie as a springboard for bigger and better projects. It’s often very motivating to see some of the more familiar athletes looking to explore new avenues when it’s time to leave the jersey at home. Although I imagine transitioning careers in front of the world can be scary, Jacobs isn’t exactly starting from the bottom here. He reportedly was paid $10 thousand dollars for two days of shooting. Not bad at all.
LaRon Landry can sure vouch for Jacobs being intense enough to be an action movie star (you know I had to do it for ya):
