Phillies place Ryan Howard On Revocable Waivers

The Philadelphia Phillies are trying to move on from Ryan Howard and they took the first step as a franchise on Saturday afternoon.  Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Phillies placed Howard and four other on revocable waivers.

Howard and Philadelphia pitchers A.J. BurnettAntonio BastardoKyle Kendrick and Roberto Hernandez can be claimed by any team on waivers. Those who clear waivers can be traded, and those who are claimed can be pulled back or traded/awarded to the claiming team.

Howard still has two-years left on the five-year, $125 million deal he signed in 2010 and is due $25 million in 2015 and 2016.  Those numbers make it unlikely any team will want to trade for the struggling first baseman.
