Brie Bella vs. Stephanie McMahon
Of all the matches on the SummerSlam card, none has gotten the build-up that the battle between Vince McMahon’s daughter and Daniel Bryan’s wife has. While WWE really wants us to believe that this is a great match (they’ll likely put it right before the main event), I’m just not interested. Stephanie hasn’t wrestled in ten years, Brie hasn’t put on a good match in probably just as long. The acting has been terrible by Bella, and while Steph has carried this thing by being the best heel in the company, it seems doomed for failure. So what will the result be?
A Brie Bella YES! Lock on Steph for the win? Or…
A McMahon Pedigree for the 1-2-3? My money is on Stephanie winning, likely thanks to a Nikki Bella heel turn. The good news here? We’re probably headed for a Bella Twin feud? You’re right, that’s not good news at all.
Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt
What to make of this match? I had high expectations for a feud between Y2J, the King of putting young stars over, and Wyatt, the King of promos. But so far, the two month feud between the two has been more fizzle than sizzle.
Harper & Rowan are banned from ringside for the match, so we might actually get a one-on-one match with no shenanigans (that’s right, shenanigans). In that case, the match has plenty of potential to be pretty great. Jericho should have worked off most of his ring rust by now, and Wyatt is always a great in-ring performer. I’m tempted to talk myself into this being a good match, but so far expectations have only lead to disappointment.
Oh well, at least we get the awesome Wyatt entrance.
Screw it, Wyatt gets the win in a great match and pushes this to a best of three at Night of Champions.
