George suffered the horrific injury while crashing into the stanchion after attempting a chasedown block in the fourth quarter of the scrimmage.
USA Basketball announced early Saturday that George is expected to remain in the hospital for three days, but that the surgery was “successful” and no ancillary damage was found.
George had recently spoke about being ready to handle the pressures placed upon him as a superstar.
