Now that the Los Angeles Clippers have officially been sold to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, we can all finally move on from the stench that Donald Sterling and co. left on the NBA.
Throughout the whole ordeal, one person who seems to have emerged relatively unscathed is Shelly Sterling. Despite likely knowing all about Donald and his racism for decades, Shelly has claimed the oblivious wife card, and is reaping the benefits of the Clippers sale. With terms starting to finally be released, an interesting tidbit is the title she will hold in relation to the Clipper franchise according to the Los Angeles Times.
As part of the sale agreement, Shelly Sterling receives the titles “Clippers Number One Fan” and “owner emeritus” and a variety of perks that include game tickets.
Oh.
So on top of taking the title owner emeritus, Shelly felt the need to officially be dubbed the top fan in Clipper nation. That’s right Clippers fans, the former Mrs. Donald Sterling lays claim to being the number one Clip fan around, and has the franchise backing to prove it.
Maybe this is just a sign that Ballmer will eventually change the team name and remove all aspects of the franchise that are still tied to the filth that is Donald Sterling’s name.
