Miguel Lozano is a sneaker collector that saw his friend scammed out of $30K when trying to purchase a few pair of Nike LeBron sneakers online. Ouch!
This is one of the few situations where a man can weep uncontrollably without shame. Some poor guy lost out on $30k, 5 pairs of dope sneakers, and his dignity all in one click of a button.

The amount of platforms there are to sell sneakers has blown up in the past two years, leading the way would be Facebook Sneaker Groups and Instagram. It’s the wild wild west out there because no one is monitoring transactions between two people so you could very easily fall victim to theft during a deal, whether it be in person and it leads to violence or it’s possible you’re being duped into a bank transfer scam.
That is exactly what happened to a friend of Miguel Lozano when dealing with a transaction over Instagram. As the story has it Miguel’s friend came across a dealer with five pairs of the exclusive Nike LeBron 9 “LeBronold Palmer.” With the state of resellers having insane amounts of inventory on exclusives, I guess that part was easy to believe. Each pair of LeBronold Palmers go for about $5,000 on eBay. The deal at hand was 5 pairs for a cool $30,000.
This transaction wasn’t handled via PayPal, a safe platform known for offering buyers protection, but bank transfer (are you serious dawg?!). After that $30k bank transfer was completed, the Seller with the 5 pairs of LeBronold Palmers vanished into the sunset and put his Instagram account on private.
Let this serve as a reminder to all sneakerheads, make sure everything is legit before sending any money to another person online. PayPal and EBay reviews are two great tools to ensure that people aren’t scammers and con artist. Too bad it’s too late for this guy to heed this advice.
