There’s at least one silver lining to Aldon Smith’s 9-game suspension, as FOX Sports 1 NFL Insider Mike Garafolo is reporting that Smith will be allowed at the 49ers’ facility during his suspension, something the team was desperately hoping would happen.
On Aldon Smith, source said the NFLPA negotiated on his behalf. Will be permitted to be at the Niners' facility during suspension.

And that negotiation period basically means there will be no appeal. It's nine games for Smith. Appeal over and done with.

If you’re wondering why this same courtesy wasn’t allowed to Josh Gordon on the heels of his 1-year ban, it’s because full year suspensions are treated differently.
Once you get to 1-yr suspension, can't be at facility. RT @Giants1111: Why Smith allowed at facility during the suspension but Gordon isn't?

Too bad, because it’s quite apparent that Josh Gordon needs all the support he can get, especially now that he’s got way too much free time on his hands.
