In the NFL season opener, the Seahawks proved that they’re definitely still a force to be reckoned with after coming off their Super Bowl championship.
Knowing that teams will be coming at them full-forced, the Seahawks have seemed to revamped their play calling.
Early in the game vs. the Green Bay Packers, the Seahawks ran a play that resulted in a 33-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson to Ricardo Lockette.
According to USA Today, the play looked very similar to some football fans. Well, that’s because it was straight from Auburn University’s playbook.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll had no shame in his game and admitted to take the play from Gus Malzahn’s playbook. Carroll speaks on the situation below and how they are willing to go anywhere to find a play.
“We’ll go anywhere to find a play,” the Seattle coach said afterward. “And that one-uh, Muschamp at Florida, no … Auburn. They ran it. Give Gus Malzahn credit. That’s a great play. I kept telling them [the offensive staff and players] this summer, ‘It’ll work, it’ll work.’ But it didn’t work all summer.”
Looks like it may be time for other team’s to scout out some college plays to keep teams guessing what will come next.
