This hasn’t been a very good week for the NFL. The league’s imaged has been severely tarnished by the abuse against women and children that has been discovered amongst its players. In response to the many domestic abuse charges brought against players, women’s advocacy groups are calling for the ousting of commissioner Roger Goodell and doing so in a very public manner.
According to Bloomberg.com, a women’s advocacy group had arranged for a banner to be flown over four NFL stadiums in Week Two urging the ouster of Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Planes pulling the message “@Ultraviolet: #GoodellMustGo” will fly for two hours before games at MetLife Stadium (Cardinals-Giants), First Energy Field (Saints-Browns), Levi’s Stadium (Bears-49ers), and Lucas Oil Stadium (Eagles-Colts). No-fly restrictions apply at all stadiums one hour before kickoff.
Goodell has vehemently stated that he will never resign as commissioner from the NFL. An independent investigation has been launched by former FBI director Robert Mueller. Some feel that Mueller’s ties to the league makes the investigation a moot point. Goodell’s status remains very involved in the league for now.
