The New York Jets could have made a game-tying touchdown in the match against the Packers, however, a timeout error of course made the situation complicated for the Jets, as usual.
Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg commented on the timeout that was called after Geno Smith hit the game-tying touchdown on fourth down in the final minutes. But, the play was “negated,” since the ref granted the Jets’ sideline a timeout.
“Due to a formation problem I was trying to get Rex [Ryan]’s attention for a T.O,” Mornhinweg told Shutdown Corner via text message. “[The head coach] is the only coach who should call TO, I know that.”
According to YahooSports, a replay shows Mornhinweg furiously yelling for a timeout, trying to get the attention of Rex Ryan, even though the head coach is the only one allowed by NFL rules to grant stoppage of play.
“Geno fixed the problem, we were good to go,” Mornhinweg said. “[I] did not get Rex’s attention. Ref called the TO anyway.”
