Critics can say what they want about Browns backup QB Johnny Manziel, but one person on the team thinks he’s worth everything that’s been given to him. Kyle Shanahan, Browns offensive coordinator, thinks that Manziel is not only worth all the hoopla, but he’s also really excited to watch Manziel finally get to do this thing on the gridiron.
“[He’s] worth a first-round draft pick,” Shanahan said, via Mary Kay Cabot of theCleveland Plain Dealer. “We liked him. I’m glad he’s here. I’ve loved coaching Johnny so far, he’s a professional. I don’t really know all the stuff that people are ripping him about. I don’t have time to read it all, but Johnny’s been great. I’m excited to see him play, [and I] think you guys will be too.”
Although Manziel is the backup for now, there has been speculation that he will get some playing time against the Steelers on Sunday. The Browns have neither confirmed nor denied whether Manziel will get in the game.
