The NFLPA will reportedly conduct its own investigation into the Ray Rice situation and the way it was handled by the NFL and the Ravens.

According to reports, the NFLPA has tabbed a former federal prosecutor to get to the bottom of things.
NFLPA has retained former federal prosecutor Richard Craig Smith to run their Ray Rice investigation.

“As a former federal prosecutor, Mr. Smith brings tremendous experience and expertise,” they said. “The NFLPA will request that the NFL and the Baltimore Ravens cooperate in the interest of transparency. This investigation will run parallel to Rice’s appeal.”
Regardless of how the league and the Ravens feel about Rice striking his then fiancee, he has rights as a player, and the double punishment goes against the leagues due process.
