Nick Fairley was looking a bit hefty during training camp and with the added weight came problems. When Fairley started to slip down the depth charted and while he was on the bench he said it was a wake up call and he knew he had to change.
“I feel a whole lot better just by not putting that bad stuff in my body,” Fairley said. “You feel the energy, you feel it out there at practice.”
“It depends on what I eat throughout the week,” he said. “If I go to fast food, I’m going to be 315. I go eat cafeteria, salad, salmon, baked chicken, I’ll be 305.”
Looks like the cafeteria ladies have a new favorite. Hopefully Fairley will keep the weight off. Playing second fiddle isn’t fun and when it becomes threatened, you’ll do whatever it takes. The Lions defense need Fairley at his healthiest.
