The $60-million man, Phil Jackson, has made his prediction for what we should expect from the Knicks and he’s not trying to move mountains. Phil Jackson was asked about what to expect from the Knicks this season.
“That’s a question I get approached right on the street all the time by folks that are Knickerbocker fans that want to know, ‘How long do we have to wait?’” Jackson said. “It’s expediently happened right next door [with the Rangers]. [But] it’s a step-by-step process. Usually teams come into the playoffs, learn from being in the playoffs and gradually assume capabilities of carrying out the championship.”
Time to put the cocky attitudes on hold Knick fans, although that’s easier said than done. Phil is predicting that the Knicks will make the playoffs and not do much after that although that ‘usually’ leaves hope open that these Knicks can surpass that. New York has been starving for their Knicks to become relevant contenders and with an Eastern Conference that has been weakened with the injury to Paul George, Knick fans are hoping they can make a huge leap into contendership. The Knicks President is tempering those expectations especially when there has been such a change in personnel from last year. From front office, to the coaching staff, and to the basketball floor the Knicks are a very different team than they were at the end of last season so we can expect some growing pains from the team as they learn to play together this season. It should be an exciting year to be a fan of the Knicks, with the belief they have in Phil Jackson I am sure they will give him a little time to get this team in shape. Jackson came into a mess of an organization and has already done a lot to change the makeup of this team. Training camp begins Monday.
