Football in LA might be closer than you think. Mayor Eric Garcetti answered questions for the “Ask the Mayor” segment on LA’s talk radio station KNX.
It’s been noted several times that the city of Los Angeles doesn’t want to force the construction of a stadium on taxpayers, but Garcetti suggested that the NFL is “finally interested” in Los Angeles.
The Rams slowly crept out by making a pitstop in Anaheim before heading to St. Louis. The Rams and Raiders were a only a memory by 1994. Tupac was still alive…
If the NFL makes a return to LA, it will be most interesting to see how a town rooted in rivalry will handle only having one team. However, at this point the city will be happy and ready to welcome the shield of the NFL.
ESPN reports that the Los Angeles City Council’s Economic Development Committee is working with Anschutz Entertainment Group to extend the agreement set two years ago to find a team. AEG has put the wheels in motion to build a stadium downtown.
Hopefully, tailgating won’t have to end on Saturdays in LA anymore.
