The Ole Miss Rebel fans are true scholars and gentlemen. The SEC fined Ole Miss the maximum amount of $50,000 for rushing the field after the upset victory against Alabama. There was another 11,000 for each of the goal posts that came down, and another $3,000 in stadium damages. The $75,000 total was raised in less than 3 hours.
“We were going to pay all of this no matter what, and it was worth it,” Ole Miss athletic director Bjork told ESPN.com. “This wasn’t all about the money, it was about the connection and the cause and tapping into the emotion from the big win.”

Ole Miss used the fundraising platform Kickstarter.com to raise the necessary funds. Fans agreed to donate money in exchange for a perk, which was to receive a piece of the goal-post from the game. $500 for a 3-inch piece and $1,000 for a 6 inch piece.
