As we head into this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, there are plenty of matches gaining a ton of interest. From two matches inside of the Cell, to multiple title defenses, to a 2-out-of-3 falls match, there’s more than enough on the card to get the WWE Universe excited for this Sunday. Let’s take a look at the matches that will be taking place and who will likely leave Sunday victorious.
Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins (Hell in a Cell Match)
So if you’re WWE, how do you drum up interest in a pay-per-view lacking your WWE Champion? You put Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose inside the Hell in a Cell, that’s how.
Despite the fact that this match may not be the true main event (thanks Cena-Orton 324) this is by far the most anticipated clash on the card Sunday night. For months, these two former brothers have been battling and completely stealing the show. Due to a slew of injuries, Ambrose and Rollins have been thrust into the main event picture, and neither have disappointed. Ambrose especially has seized his opportunity and is by far the hottest wrestler on WWE programming week in and week out.
Before diving into this match, we must give credit where credit is due. When the Shield was busy running through the WWE roster, few would have predicted Seth Rollins breaking out as the top heel in the faction and Dean Ambrose of all people becoming the hottest WWE babyface since Daniel Bryan. But WWE went with the less obvious route and have absolutely hit a grand slam with their development. Including an injured Roman Reigns, the WWE has their next crop of main event stars for the next 10-15 years.
While any match in the Cell is unpredictable, one featuring two of the best in-ring workers in the company could be an all-time great. If you think that may be a bit of an over-exaggeration, you likely haven’t seen these two in a match before. There is no shortage of highlights from the few actual matches Ambrose and Rollins have had against each other.
The first time they competed was at Money in the Bank where Rollins cemented himself as one of the best bump-takers in the business today.
Then of course there was their classic battle on Monday Night Raw the night after Summerslam that gave us two of the most jaw-dropping moves we’ve seen in years.
These two meeting in the ring is a guaranteed highlight reel.
We got to this point after Ambrose beat John Cena in a Contract on a Pole match (so lame), earning himself a chance to get his hands on Rollins inside of the Cell. While Rollins has spent the better part of the past six months running away from Ambrose, there’s nowhere for him to go once that Cell door is locked.
Of course that doesn’t mean that Rollins is going to get destroyed in this match. Mr. Money in the Bank seems to always be one step ahead of those trying to take him out, and he has more than held his own in the ring against Cena and Ambrose during this month-long build up. And when the Authority is involved, Rollins always has a shot at winning a big match.
But seriously, forget storylines for a minute. Seth Rollins. Dean Ambrose. Hell in a Cell.
That’s enough to sell this match. These two are going to put on a show, and whether they close out the pay-per-view or not you might as well call it a night when they finish because there will be no topping this match.
And just in case you weren’t sure what these guys could do inside of the Cell, take a look at this awesome sequence from Monday night’s main event.
This is going to be incredible. Look for Ambrose to overcome the odds and pick up the win against his former Shield-mate.
