Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris is on the short list of candidates to fill the head coach position at SMU. Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman and former Arkansas and Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt are also being linked to the job.
Todd Turner has a very short list. He doesn’t need weeks, much less months. He knows who has a shot and has already advised Hart

Chad Morris & Tom Herman would love the job and will be considered. Houston Nutt is working Turner & Hart. Want a real dark horse???

Re SMU I have said all along that I think Chad Morris will be the next head coach. Nothing I have heard since then has changed my mind.

I’ve been saying from the beginning that Chad Morris should be one of the first coaches called for this job. He almost landed back in Texas when Charlie Strong, but a very large buyout in his contract for making a lateral move prevented it from happening. Morris would be a home run hire as he has Texas roots is a brilliant offensive mind.
Want an interesting name being linked to the SMU job?
Tommy Tuberville. Just going to leave that there.

After the way he left Texas Tech, I wouldn’t put it past Tuberville to do something like that again
