Cena Earns His Shot at the Beast
We see a video package hyping the Cena-Orton rivalry and playing up the fact that these two men have battled each other for over a decade. The video highlights the different routes the two have taken in their careers and how they continue to battle each other for dominance. Then we kick off hour two and…
Shockingly, this match actually kicked off the second hour of the show. Smart move by WWE giving the fans what they wanted and not forcing another Orton-Cena main event down our throats. The move actually makes the match much more enjoyable.
JBL mentions that there are 27 world titles between these two, which is incredible no matter how sick of Orton-Cena you are.
As both wrestlers make their way out to the Cell, Cena takes a couple extra seconds before getting inside. Even Superman is afraid of this steel structure. Doors locked, music is off and the match is officially underway.
Orton takes control early and immediately sends Cena to the outside, grinding John’s face against the Steel before rolling him into the ring and pulling out a chair as JBL gleefully tells us the twos are out. Cena dodges the chair-shot attempt but Orton is able to take control again quickly before connecting several times with the chair on Cena. Orton jams the chair into the corner but Cena grabs him for an Attitude Adjustment, which Orton is able to reverse into a DDT.
Dueling Cena chants and Orton doesn’t like either of them so he yells at the crowd to shut up. JBL and Cole are putting over the fact that this match is the defining moment in the careers of both men… until the next Cena-Orton match of course.
Orton is now posing in the ring so of course he turns around and runs right into a huge clothesline from Cena. Somehow, Orton again takes control and he has thoroughly dominated Cena up to this point over ten minutes into the match.
Cena finally makes a push as both men trade blows before Orton is tossed outside of the ring. Cena begins to throw Orton into every inch of the Cell wall, but Orton is able to counter and…
Yeah, no need to explain what happened there.
Orton attempts to take control but Cena reverses and then goes for a weapon of his own, pulling a table out and setting it up inside of the ring. Both men are now back in the ring as Cena grabs Orton and attempts to hit the Attitude Adjustment through the table.
Being the veteran that he is, Orton flips the table over and reverses, sending Cena face-first into the steel chair the Viper had set up in the corner earlier in the match. Now Orton is in control and he sets up the table in the corner of the ring. Orton tries to throw Cena into it, but John avoids the table by doing some weird baseball slide and then begins to launch himself into Orton to set up The Five Knuckle Shuffle…
Orton hits an RKO out of nowhere!
Somehow, Cena is able to power his way out of the pin attempt and the Viper can’t believe he didn’t pick up the victory. Orton throws Cena through the table and again, Cena is able to kick out. Now Orton is outside of the ring and he brings in the steel steps. The Viper begins to call for an RKO on the steps before Cena counters and hits a Five Knuckle Shuffle on Orton.
Cena calls for the AA again but Orton reverses and hits a vicious low-blow on Cena, who somehow kicks out again. Incredulous, the Viper backs into the corner and is ready to punt Cena in the head, only Cena reverses the attempt into an STF in the center of the ring. Orton crawls to the ropes but since that won’t break the hold, continues crawling until he chokes Cena with the bottom rope to break the hold.
Cena then picks up the steel steps and launches them at Orton, who barely avoids getting hit outside of the ring. Orton takes control for a minute before Cena picks him up again and attempts another AA, but Orton reverses the move in mid-air and hits Cena with an RKO! 1-2-Cena kick out again! Are you kidding me?!
As Orton yells at the official, Cena jumps up out of nowhere and hits another AA and this time it’s Orton that kicks out! Awesome back and forth sequence between the two.
Cena goes outside and grabs another table and lays Orton on it before heading up top for a leg drop. Orton reverses and looks to hit an RKO off the turnbuckle through the table, but Cena lifts him up and…
1-2-3. LOL Cena wins.. again.
Cena then stares down Paul Heyman (who killed it on the Hell in a Cell kick-off show). Prepare yourselves for Cena-Lesnar 3 folks.
