Texans’ Andre Johnson seems to be growing more and more frustrated as the season goes along. Johnson spent the entire offseason away from the team, trying to get traded before ultimately showing up in time for Texans training camp. Even opposing players are beginning to see a difference in Johnson’s demeanor on the field. Eagles CB Cary Williams said that he thought that Johnson “Wasn’t the same guy” in terms of his attitude on the field. When asked about this Johnson replied with:
“I’m trying to help the team win,” Johnson said, via the Houston Chronicle. “But I only can do what I can do. I can’t control everything. I only can control what I can. That’s it. I can’t block. I can’t cover guys. I can’t throw the ball. All I can do is run routes and try to get open and catch the ball.”
The main culprit of most of Johnson’s ire has to be QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick simply isn’t getting the job done as the Texans QB, and it makes almost no sense for head coach Bill O’Brien to continue wheeling Fitzpatrick out as the starter every Sunday. If The Texans want to be in contention, than Fitzpatrick is virtually killing their playoff chances every week with inaccurate throws. If the Texans are focusing on the future, than it makes no sense to not start a younger player like Ryan Mallett. Andre Johnson has been brutally honest over his career, and I can’t see him toeing the company line anymore over the direction of this offense.
