A local Auburn newspaper might’ve gone a little too far with their cover photo the day after the Auburn beat Ole Miss in a nail biter. One of the more terrible moments of the game was when Ole Miss Laquon Treadwell broke his ankle. The Opelika-Auburn Newspaper decided to use a photo of Treadwell breaking his ankle as the cover on Sunday.

The paper published an editorial Sunday afternoon, addressing criticism, apologizing for putting the photo on the cover and expressing well-wishes for Treadwell.
The headline was not meant to celebrate Treadwell’s injury. No true fan takes pleasure in the injury. It was a terrible ending for one of the best games of the season, regardless of one’s collegiate allegiances. Our newspaper joins fans throughout America in wishing Treadwell a speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are also with his family.
It’s never nice to glorify a player getting seriously injured. I’m sure the paper’s editors wishes they could take this one back.
