The Atlanta Braves had made the first major splash of the MLB off-season by trading star OF Jason Heyward to the St. Louis Cardinals fro Right handed pitcher Shelby Miller and Tyrell Jenkins. There was talk last week that the contract negotiations between the Braves and Heyward’s camp were not off to a good start, and this most certainly was a contributing factor to the Braves using the young OF’s promise as leverage to bolster their struggling pitching staff. This also marks the first major move made by the Braves new-look front office. John Hart is the new president of baseball operations, and will get the credit if this move pans out, he will also shoulder the blame if it doesn’t.
