I don’t like the word “HATE”, that is a very strong word and should be reserved for more serious things than a football rivalry no matter how heated it is.
I am glad Devin Gardner understands regardless if you play or root for Michigan or Ohio State, we are all still all humans and you never want to see anyone hurt.
“You hate to see any player get hurt but especially a guy like that, a great guy,” Gardner said after the game. “J.T. is a high-character guy, a hard worker who waited for his shot and was doing so well with it. I was sick for him.”
Gardner, a senior who’s played his last game, said he and Barrett, a redshirt freshman, had talked periodically through the season.
Even in one of college football’s great rivalries, there’s room for mutual respect.
“It’s like having a little brother out there get hurt,” Gardner said. “I didn’t want to see that at all.”
Much respect for Gardner.
