Holly Holm is supposed to be the fighter that can dethrone Women’s MMA phenom Ronda Rousey, but so far Holm hasn’t been able to step into the octagon to justify that hype.
Holm has been removed from next month’s UFC 181 card with a neck injury that was suffered 2 weeks ago during practice. Holm was attempting a takedown when her neck was jammed.
Holm is a world class boxer but her overall fighting technique does have a lot of question marks. It’s not surprising to hear of her working on her wrestling ahead of the match, but her being injured during a takedown is alarming. Does that mean her technique is that far behind? Was it a freak accident? these are all questions she’ll need to answer by steeping into the octagon and fighting.
There has yet to be a replacement announced for Holm and the fight may be scratched from the UFC 181 card entirely. Hopefully Holm can return to full health and be the adversary Ronda Rousey needs.
