When it comes to owners speaking up and saying what’s on there minds Mikhail Prokhorov has joined the ranks of Mark Cuban and James Dolan. When questioned about Jason Kidd departure from the Brooklyn Nets Prokhorov threw some shade towards Kidd by using an English proverb as such:
“I think there is a nice proverb in English,” Prokhorov said when asked about departed head coach Jason Kidd. “Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.”
“I think we shouldn’t get mad, I think we should get even,” Prokhorov added about Kidd’s power play in Brooklyn and desertion to Milwaukee. “And we’ll see it on the court.”
It is definitely no love lost between the two as Kidd is happy in Milwaukee and Prokhorov is courting his majority stake to anybody that’s willing to come up with the cash. Prokhorov has been dodging questions about his desire to remain owner but when pressed proclaimed he is listening to offers like any good businessman.
“My position is that I will not give up control of the team,” he said. “But you know, I am quite happy when somebody sending me a nice offer without taking my control of team. I think, for the time being, nothing is imminent, but still I think it’s not bad just to listen.”
It’s safe to say Prokhorov is not worried about Jason Kidd but only building the brand and investment of the Brooklyn Nets. With recent NBA franchises going for billions Prokhorov $200 million original investment can see $1.5 billion.
