Year after year, NFL fans and experts alike expect Tom Brady to eventually show some signs of declining. And year after year, Brady continues to play at an elite level, age be damned.
So just how does the All-Pro quarterback do it? By sleeping at the same time as most first graders of course! After receiver Julian Edelman told ESPN’s Bill Simmons that the QB sleeps by 8:30 every night, Brady gave some insight into how an early bed time has helped prolong his career during an interview with Boston’s WEEI radio.
“I do go to bed very early because I’m up very early. I think that the decisions that I make always center around performance enhancement, if that makes sense.” Brady said, “So whether that’s what I eat or what decisions I make or whether I drink or don’t drink, it’s always football-centric. I want to be the best I can be every day. I want to be the best I can be every week. I want to be the best I can be for my teammates. I love the game and I want to do it for a long time.”
While most of us would love to sleep early and often, it does take a lot of discipline to actually get yourself in bed and knocked out at such an early hour. Then again, if it’s helped Brady stay elite for this long, maybe we should all give it a try.
