The NFL Players association has sent a letter to the NFL, calling for the immediate reinstatement of Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, citing an agreement that was agreed to between the Minnesota Vikings and the NFLPA back in September. The agreement to place Peterson on the commissioner’s exempt list explicitly states that Peterson would be removed from the list upon resolution of his legal matter, sources said. Peterson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor in a Texas Court room earlier this week. If the NFL were not to comply with that agreement, than the NFLPA could file n expedited non-injury grievance to get AP back to the field as soon as possible. The Minnesota Vikings front office seems to be divided on whether or not they even want Peterson to return this season anyway according to NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport.

Adrian Peterson filed for immediate reinstatement. There will be an hearing this week on it. Coaches want him back. But the front office?

The Vikings front office is probably apprehensive to add Peterson back to the team for fear of how their sponsors will react. Adrian Peterson could still be facing a 6-game suspension according to the NFL’s conduct policy that has been accepted and has precedent. The suspension could be reduced with a compromise of using the time already served (Peterson has already missed 6 games) and having him pay back the salary that he has received while on the NFL’s exempt list.
