Keith Thurman is trying to make the most of his opportunity Saturday night. He will fight Leonard Bundu on the Khan-Alexander undercard and he’s already looking at fighting the main event winner sometime in 2015.
Thurman wasn’t shy about voicing his thoughts on Khan’s skills, or lack thereof:
“Overrated fighter in my division? Right now, I would call Amir Khan. I would say Amir Khan. To me, he’s yet to prove himself at 147 pounds. He fought Collazo — over the hill Collazo. Now he’s fighting Devon Alexander, who in reality, it’s really two 140 pounders. If you go back two years ago, it’s two 140 pounders fighting at a catchweight. Fight a real welterweight, baby.”
He also gave his thoughts on the Khan-Alexander fight:
“Everybody’s leaning toward Khan. I believe statistically, they have a lot of reason to do so, but I believe that come Saturday night, it’ll be the man who wants it the most.”
Khan should stay clear of Thurman if he wants to cash in on a Mayweather fight in 2015. Thurman is arguably the most feared fighter at 147 lbs and no one, not even Mayweather, wants to be the next person on his highlight reel.
