College football rivalries are huge, but there are just some things that are bigger than the game. Last Saturday, Buckeyes QB JT Barrett left the game with a gruesome ankle injury, but one of the first people at his side was rival Michigan’s QB Devin Gardner. Gardner stayed by Barrett’s side the entire time and offered words.
In a surprise, but very classy, move, the Director of Development & Community Relations of Ohio State, Dave Claiborne, wrote a personal letter to Gardner thanking him for being so kind to Barrett. The rivalries are fun, but this show of humility and compassion is what sports are made of.
I really appreciate Dave Claborn & the OSU athletic department for this kind letter! Just saw it today… http://t.co/EbpqG4x73g
