Rondo Supports Players, But Has No Plans To Wear “I Can’t Breathe” Shirt

rajon-rondoIn the wake of Eric Garner’s death, athletes have decided to use their voice and stand in solidarity with “I Cant Breathe” t-shirts. The t-shirts represent Garners last words as he was choked to death by police officers. He said those three words 11 times and yet the police ignored him and he died. With the Ferguson protest colliding with Garner’s, people all over the world are becoming united in their efforts to raise awareness to police brutality and racial matters.

Within the last week athletes such as Reggie Bush, Derrick Rose and Lebron James have worn the “I Cant Breathe” shirts and let fans know that just because they are super star athletes, doesn’t mean that what goes on in the world doesn’t affect them as well. Sadly, not all athletes care to be political on the court, take for instance Rajon Rondo.

“Everybody’s different,” Rondo told the Herald in Charlotte, N.C., where the Celtics fell to the Hornets 96-87 on Wednesday. “To each his own. And I definitely support the guys that have worn the T-shirts, but I haven’t reached out to anybody or had anybody reach out to me about wearing a T-shirt, so I’m just going to continue to do what I do.”

Looks like Rondo just feels a little left out the loop. Im sure if someone brings him a t-shirt, he will wear it.
