Marcus Mariota, college football’s golden child and whats looking like a number 1 draft pick.
After winning the Heisman trophy, Mariota has garnered some special attention from professional athletes and coaches, the most recent being Tony Dungy. Dungy is calling Mariota, the next Aaron Rodgers and if it was his choice, Mariota is going first in the NFL Draft. Dungy was a guest on the Dan Patrick show and when giving his opinion on the quarterback, Dungy had nothing but high praises.
“I promise you this: Marcus Mariota is a fantastic player,” Dungy said. “He’s going to be a great pro. He can throw from the pocket. I watched him in practice, I watched him in training camp for three years when my son was at Oregon.”
“Not only is he going to be a great quarterback, he’s going to be a great person — face of the franchise — for whoever takes him. I think this is Aaron Rodgers in the waiting.”
An Aaron Rodgers comparison isn’t lightweight. Putting huge expectations on a kid could be a dangerous thing. Mariota hasn’t officially announced his entry into the draft, so we cant be too sure on Dungy’s comments JUST yet. I am sure that Mariota will perform well in the NFL if he chooses to go. Lets see if he meets the expectations of Dungy.
