DeMarco Murray on Contract: Money is Irrelevant to Some Degree

demarco

DeMarco Murray had one of the greatest season ever for any Dallas Cowboys running back. The 26 year old running back led the NFL with 392 carries and 1845 yards. He also had a very respectable 13 touchdown but his future in Dallas is in question. DeMarco is set to became a free-agent when this years off-season starts and could demand a big pay day. If he goes this route, likely, he won’t be paid by the Dallas Cowboys because resigning teammate Dez Bryant is their first priority.

According to @jonMachota, DeMarco stopped by @dpshow and @1053thefan and shared some of this thoughts about his future in the NFL. When asked about free agency and re-signing with Dallas, DeMarco said,

I understand the business aspect of it. There’s no hard feelings if we can’t reach a deal.

I’m thinking about winning a Super Bowl. At the end of the day, the money is irrelevant to some degree.

We have a good thing going. All you can do is hope for the best.

Hopefully, Dez and I both stay with the Cowboys. We’ve built a great foundation. I think we’re headed in the right direction.

When asked about his high number of carries hurting his value,

I don’t take a lot of hard hits. I feel amazing. I’m not worried about that talk.

DeMarco was offered a four- year, $16 million dollar contract extension at the start of the season but turned it down. Only time will tell to what degree of irrelevance the money matters.
