Ike Taylor is a 34 year old cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a season filled with injuries and a not so great return, he’s looking into his options post football. While he’s not ready to retire his cleats just yet, he said that if he’s forced to, he isn’t leaving football completely.
“I am very cool with this being my last year,” Taylor said, via the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “As far as putting the cleats up, I have years left. I have a lot of years left. I am not ready to make that final decision, but I am cool hanging my cleats up if it comes to it.”
“As far as the Steelers organization, it doesn’t have to be with the cleats anymore,” Taylor said. “I can be in the office. I can be at the bottom and work my way up. I can be an assistant. I don’t mind working my way from the bottom up.”
Most players post football want to stay with an organization or continue on as an analyst so its no surprise to hear of his aspirations. Hopefully, he won’t have to hang up his cleats sooner than he wants to.
