Shawn Carter may be looking to take over more than just the sports agency business. The Source and Billboard are reporting that Jay Z and Carmelo Anthony are among a group looking to buy New York Hot 97 radio station.
This venture may or may not have anything to do with Funk Master Flex ranting about the Roc Nation honcho over the weekend.
According to a ROCK SOLID SOURCE – Shawn “Jay Z” Carter along with a group of investors that includes NY Knicks star Carmelo Anthony are currently NEGOTIATING TO BUY Hot 97 radio station. Talks are still early, but we’re told that both sides have HIRED LAWYERS and INVESTMENT BANKERS – and are serious in getting a deal done.
This is the first I’m hearing about such a venture, and I’ll believe it when I see it. Both men already have their hands full with various ventures they are trying to get off the ground. Trying to purchase a radio station after already starting a venture capitalist firm during record losing season is not the way to go.
It’s also a deal would that would cause conflicting interest seeing that Anthony already has a business relationship with 50 Cent and his SMS Headphones.
