I don’t know if this is a publicity stunt or not, but Lil Wayne is bringing the heat to his daddy, Birdman. According to TMZ, Wayne Carter is suing Baby and Cash Money for $51 million.
The lawsuit alleges that Cash Money CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams and his company have withheld an enormous amount of money that it owed to Wayne him with regard to the rapper’s still-unreleased new album, Tha Carter V.
Because the label has not paid him the money he claims he’s owed, Lil Wayne contends that he should be able to leave Cash Money — no strings attached.
In addition to ending his deal, Lil Wayne is seeking a huge payout and has asked a judge to declare him the joint copyright holder of everything released on his Cash Money imprint, Young Money, including important recordings by Drake and Nicki Minaj.
A spokesperson for Birdman was not immediately available for comment.
