Canelo Alvarez is another boxer that has to move on from a much hyped fight that never was. Canelo was presumed to be fighting Miguel Cotto on May 2nd but those talks fell through and now he’s in talks to fight James Kirkland.
Kirkland has only fought twice the past two years and he isn’t the marquee name Golden Boy Promotions hoed to land, but honestly Canelo doesn’t have many options.
It is interesting to see Canelo hold onto his dream of taking the May 2nd date from Floyd. If they both end up fighting on the same night Canelo would surely be trumped by the Mayweather fight.
