Oregon Heisman winning Quarterback Marcus Mariota announced that he would be entering the 2015 NFL Draft. It has been no secret that Chip Kelly has a ton of love and affection for his former QB standout.
He’s a special player, and he’s just got a gift for playing football,” Kelly said. “He’s everything you want. He can throw the ball, he can run. He’s the most talented kid I coached in college.
Chip Kelly told the Philadelphia Inquirer back in December.
Now, Chris Eckel of nj.com is reporting that Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles would like to move up in the draft and take Marcus Mariota. The Eagles have the 20th pick in the draft so it will take some major moves or a major slide for them to have the chance to select Mariota.
From No. 20, it’s certainly not going to be easy,’ said the person, who requested anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak on the subject. ‘It’s probably going to take moving up twice to do it. There’s going to be some wheeling and dealing involved.’
Asked if he thought it could happen, the response was telling.
‘Can it happen?’ he asked. ‘I don’t know. But they’re going to try.’
Next up for the draft prospects is the NFL Scouting Combine on February 17, 2015.
