Top ranked dual threat quarterback prospect Kyler Murray decided late last night to honor his commitment to Texas A&M after brief flirtations with in state rival Texas and Charlie Strong.
“Texas A&M is where my heart is at,” Murray said late Thursday night. “Coach [Charlie] Strong and Texas is a great opportunity, but I felt that A&M was the place for me. Not because of my dad having played there, but just the right place for me.”
The finalization for Murray came after a Thursday night in-home visit by Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital.
“It went well,” Murray said. “All my questions were answered. I just can’t wait to get this all over with and get back to playing ball.”
Murray’s father Kevin played quarterback for A&M in the early 80’s, so his son’s impromptu visit to Austin recently raised quite a few eyebrows around the state of Texas. If you haven’t seen Murray’s highlight tape, I am doing you a favor by including it below.
On top of his ridiculous state lines, Murray led Allen high school to three consecutive state title game games and accumulated a record of 43-0. The kid is a flat out stud and is a winner, A&M is getting them a heck of a player and I can’t wait to watch him on Saturdays in the fall.
