Bill Belichick appeared on David Letterman’s Late Show on Wednesday, and, of course, the subject of Deflategate came up. It was all in fun, and Belichick gave answers as he usually does.
“You know exactly what happened. I know you know exactly what happened. You know I know you know. And what it was was some kind of horseplay. Am I right?,” Letterman asked.
“No,” Belichick replied.
Letterman then referenced a Patriots employee that was reportedly a person of interest in the case after he was seen going into a bathroom at Gillette Stadium with the footballs.
“He’s in there for 90 seconds. I can’t remember the last time I took a leak in 90 seconds “Are you that age where you have that problem?” Letterman said.
In true Belichick fashion, he said, “Dave, we’re just out there, playing the game, doing the best we can.”
Letterman jokingly said he heard that a Colts player intercepted the ball and took it over to the sideline where it was deflated with the player saying ‘Hey, look at this ball, it’s got no air in it.’ Is that what happened?”
Belichick offered to bring Letterman in to be questioned.
“We’re going to bring you in to testify when we get the investigation next month,” Belichick said.
“I’m ready, swear me in! I’m ready to go,” Letterman said.
