Appearing on NFL Total Access, Ian Rapoport reported that the Broncos were prepared to use their franchise tag on wide receiver Demaryius Thomas if the two parties are unable to reach an agreement.
Thomas, 27, has been the No. 1 receiver in Denver for a while, all the way back in the Tim Tebow days. Last season, Thomas hauled in 111 catches for 1,619 yards and 11 touchdowns.
While the team seems to be debating on whether they will re-sign QB Peyton Manning, the Broncos front office seem to be certain that they will try to keep Thomas to pair with Emmanuel Sanders and Cody Latimore. If the Broncos tag Thomas, it will cost them around 13 million dollars.
The Broncos and Thomas camp have had no talks of a new deal in while, per Rapoport.
