Sad news for the Tar Heel family yet again. Legendary basketball coach Dean Smith passed away Saturday night. Smith was 83 years old. He coached the Tar Heels men’s basketball team from from 1961-1997 and the NCAA championship in 1982 and 1993. In 36 seasons, his record was 879-254.
