Al Haymon makes another boxing power move with his signing of Leo Santa Cruz.
ESPN’s sources have confirmed that Oscar De La Hoya has sold LSC’s contract to Al Haymon which all but kills any chance of a Santa Cruz vs Rigondeaux fight.
“Oscar has been telling everybody possible that he wants Leo to fight Rigondeaux,” the source said. “Clearly, that’s not on the agenda for Al and Leo. Al wouldn’t make the fight. Oscar wants to work with fighters and managers who want to put the best against the best and make the kind of fights that the fans want to see.”
Oscar De La Hoya must be getting worried because most of his main Golden Boy headliners have gone to various Haymon programs.
Santa Cruz may only be one of many to leave GBP in the near future.
