Regardless of the public distain New York Yankee’s brass have been displaying towards Alex Rodriguez, the shamed slugger has seemingly found a supporter in Hall of Famer Hank Aaron.
Aaron whom is currently second on MLB’s all-time home-run list admitted to a New York periodical Newsday, that if he had the opportunity to attend a game in which Rodriguez was playing he would not miss out on that opportunity, we learn via ESPN.
While discussing Rodriguez, Aaron went on stating:
“Despite all of the things that people say he had been involved in, I’m rooting for him to come back and have a great year. I am very much anxious to see what he’s going to do.”
Aaron did however, go on to mention that he does feel that the soon to be 40 year old Rodriguez will have a tough time jumping right back into the fold after his year long suspension.
“I wish him well, but I just don’t know, when you’re [away] from playing the game the whole year and go out and then have to face kids that are throwing 90 mph, it’s a tough thing.”
Rodriguez arrived at spring training Monday, and immediately took to batting practice, pelting 6 home runs. He is owed $61 million over the remaining three years of his contract by the Yankees.
Despite Rodriguez’s good standing with MLB, having served his debt to the league, the Yankee’s have gone on record stating that Rodriguez will have to “earn” his playing time throughout the season.
